Janney
Extended Day (JED) is seeking a full-time director to join its after-school program.
Located in
the newly renovated Janney Elementary School, one block from the Tenleytown/AU Metro stop, JED is a non-profit
that serves nearly 200 Janney children in grades pre-K through 5. JED operates five days a week during the school year, from 3:15 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.,
as well as before the school day begins. JED is also open all day on school administrative
days. JED prides itself
on offering a wide variety of activities ‑ recreational, social, cognitive, and artistic ‑ that allow kids to
be kids in a safe, relaxed, and caring environment. If you
are energetic, enthusiastic, and experienced in managing the day-to-day operations of a child-care center while keeping longer-term
goals on track; if you have excellent communications and relationship-building skills; and if you are willing to get dirty

Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree from
an accredited college or university in early childhood education or related field
- At least two years experience
managing employees, working with children and managing a center’s budget and finances
- Documented
passing of DCMP background check and TB test prior to employment
- Certification
in CPR and First Aid
Responsibilities: - Remain on site throughout JED’s afternoon and evening hours, interacting with students, staff,
and parents. Oversee JED staff and program, including hiring, training, and supervision,
consistent with written policies and core values
- Manage the JED program, including budget, supplies, and
programs
- Communicate with JED’s Board of Directors and parent community
Salary and Benefits: - Salary is commensurate with experience and
education.
