Daily Schedule
JED operates an afternoon program on days that Janney School is in session. Program hours are:

Each day at dismissal time JED students check themselves in at the Janney
auditorium. After check-in, the children go to their respective activities (Homework Help, Learning Centers,
or Group Activities) by grade. After 5:00 all of the children will be at Janney for evening pickup.
Daily
Schedule and Activities:
3:15 – 3:45 p.m.
Students check in at their assigned classrooms. JED students are assigned to small groups based on age.
These small groups serve as a "home base"; small-group leaders and assistants are responsible for supervising their
students throughout the afternoon.
3:30 – 5:15 p.m.
Homework: A quiet classroom staffed by Janney and JED employees who provide assistance with understanding directions
and organizing homework tasks.
Center/Game time: Students choose from a variety of games, building sets, science activities,
and books and puzzles. Students can work individually or in a group and may switch activities when they wish.
Group Activity: Age-appropriate art activities are led by our dedicated art teacher and staff.
Outdoor activities:
free play, playground activities: kickball, football, basketball, wall ball, capture the flag, sidewalk chalk, etc.
5:15 - 6:00 p.m.
Group activity: art project for older students, organized sports
and outside play for those who have completed their homework
Center/Game time: games, building sets, science
activities, and books & puzzles for small groups
6:00 p.m.
All JED students
have been dismissed, JED open for extended stay students only.
Extended stay students move to the gym for continued
recreation time and limited center/game time.
6:30 p.m.
JED Closed; late pick-up
fee applies for students dismissed after 6:30pm.
Dismissal
All students are signed out at the
check-out table. Students must be signed out every day!
Snack
JED serves snack each afternoon
at 3:15. JED snacks are always peanut-free and meet USDA snack guidelines.
Bingo
Bingo is a JED tradition
and one of the most popular activities offered. It happens on Thursdays at 5 p.m. – check with your kids to make
sure you don’t make the mistake of trying to pick them up early that day!
Parties
JED loves to celebrate
and throw a good party. You will get notices about the famous JED Halloween party, the holiday party, and the end-of-year
bash that usually involves moonbounces, burgers and snow cones. JED also produces an annual talent and fashion show
to showcase our kids’ unique abilities and fantastic accessorizing. Watch the newsletter for announcements.
